Eamon McCann - Press Release May 2009 Creggan's Singer/Songwriter Eamon McCann been invited to Music City USA in June this year to perform at the CMA festival in Nashville . The Tyrone man is honoured to be one of the few country singers from Ireland to be asked to sing on the World's biggest stage for a country music event. Things are happing for Eamon as he has just been voted Ireland 's Number 1 Country Singer of 2008, presented to him by Senator Donie Cassidy at the CMA awards in Athlone. Eamon and his band also received the award for Band of the Year 2007 His Last Album ‘Lay You Down' remains one of the top selling country albums in Europe . He is at present finishing his forthcoming album and hopes for a release date in the late summer. Eamon will be appearing along side Randy Travis at this years UTV Country Festival in The Kings Hall Belfast in early August. More details on that later.
Eamon McCann receives award at The Irish Entertainment Awards 2008 A host of awards were up for grabs on a very special occasion when some of the Irish entertainment industry's finest performers appeared to a packed audience at Athlone's Radisson SAS Hotel recently.This annual Irish Entertainment Awards 2008 has now become a major date in the entertainment event calendar. One of the most prestige awards to be handed out on the night went to Tyrone's, Eamon McCann for Ireland 's Number 1 Country Singer 2008 presented to him on stage by Senator Donie Cassidy of Dáil Éireann. The idea of the awards is to recognise the services of entertainers who give so much to thousands of people across the country says organizer Desi Egan. At this event last year Eamon and his band received the award for Band of The Year 2007.Also appearing at the show was the legendary Brendan Bowyer, Mike Denver, Tony Kenny, Michael English, The Showband Show, John Mc Nicholl, Athlone Mayor Egbert Moran, Joe Cooney of Midlands Radio 3, Jim Bartley of Fair City , Ronan Collins of RTÉ and international superstar Roger Whittaker. A special award was presented to the family of Louis Walsh, who attended the show on behalf of Louis, who is currently filming X-Factor. Meanwhile Eamon is keeping busy with his dance shows and a concert tour throughout Ireland called ‘The Kings of Pure Country' with Ray Lynam, Anthony McBrien and others plus Eamon's five piece band.The show is proving very popular and selling out in theatres throughout Ireland where the lovers of pure country music gathered to hear the cream of country singers in Ireland .
